Quando Jon e Ponch param um carro em alta velocidade na rodovia, um homem enorme sai do veículo. After a few days Jon and Ponch get the idea to bring Derk and Cora together. And their plan works. Cora and Derk become a couple. Derk allows her to bring all her animals with her.

A series of robberies at drive-in bank windows is frustrating the CHP - especially Jon and Ponch, who unsuccessfully chased the bandit's car three times. The thieves have joined a 150-car road rally that enables their vehicles to elude the police. Meanwhile, Ponch gets a surprise visit from his mom, who refuses to tell him the reason for her trip.

Sindy has a new study project. She creates Bio Rythms for all officers. Robbie Davis (known from The Volunteers) is in trouble again. Someone attacks her trucks and the drivers lives. Jon and especially Ponch try to help.

Central HQ has to be quarantined after a boy is brought in suffering from a mysterious disease. Two crazy criminals are bringing trouble, too. The other officers investigate the past of the boy and find a puzzle piece in his "bomb". We learn that Grossie is learning Russian.

Jon and Sindy are training a BMX team for kids. Ponch takes care for a young boy who vandalizes his school. He wants to see him on the BMX team. The sergeant's son has a bad accident, Joe feels guilty for that. It confuses him so much that he makes bad mistakes at work.

Sindy, Jon and Ponch go in search of some outlaw bikers.

While Ponch is busy trying to recruit celebrities for the CHP roller disco, Jon and Getraer deal with a teenage thief. Later, Ponch and Jon chase after two thieves who get away on roller-skates.

After a fellow officer is killed, Ponch and Jon investigate a crooked stuntman who has been causing accidents as part of an insurance scam.

Ponch finds out about a counterfeiting scam run by a bogus preacher when he gets hold of some fake money.

Ponch and Jon encounter a hotshot cyclist who evades them after stealing. Ponch takes a bad fall while trying to avoid a semi and is hospitalized; a supercycle event has come to town, and the officers attempt to figure out who the culprit is. Devising a scheme for an interview with one of the cyclists, the CHiPs catch the culprit, an affiliate of the star of the supercycle show, by using a special-issue bike that can keep up with the cyclist.

While Ponch is in hospital, Jon and a new partner investigate several thefts involving city vehicles.

Ponch and Jon become involved in the case of a young girl whose parents are nowhere to be found. Candi, a racing driver, takes her to the racetrack - with dramatic consequences.

Candi tries to help the young girl who is unhappy at her foster home. Ponch and Jon move in on the crooks that they have been watching.
